As part of activities lined-up to celebrate the “Temgmaalug Laong” festival by the chiefs and people of the Talensi Traditional Area in the Upper East Region, the Overlord of the Traditional Area, Tong-Raan Kugbilsong Nanlebgtang has organized a District Quiz Competition for all Junior High Schools in the Talensi District.

This year’s “Temgmaalug Laong” is expected to be climaxed on Saturday March 2, with a durbar of all Chiefs and sons and daughters from the Talensi Traditional Area, as well as invited guests and investors. There will be display of various traditional and cultural drumming and dance.

The quiz, according to the planning committee was aimed at building the confidence level and helping students to learn more about the rich culture of the land.

Prof. Kenneth B Belig-Ba, who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Tong-Raan Kugbilsong Nanlebgtang, charged students in the district and others around the district to be more active in their studies, since education is key to success.

The quiz which started on January 28 and ended on February 26, saw a total of 46 schools from the public and private sectors. Six schools finally qualified for the final stage, which was won by the Tengzuk Junior High School.
