Nandom SHS old boys want headmaster’s dismissal investigated

Old students of Nandom Senior High School in the Upper West region are calling on the Ghana Education Service to launch full scale investigations with the help of Investigation Hotline, into the circumstances that led to the removal of the headmaster of the school, Rev. Joachim Naa.
In a press statement issued today and signed by president of the Nandom Senior High School Old Boys Association(NASSOBA) Sylvester Dery, the group said the investigation “will put to rest the rumors and speculations circulating in the public domain that the headmaster in particular is being targeted for removal because of the disciplinary measures he has instituted in the school, which have made some powers that be uncomfortable and who have therefore schemed to have him removed as headmaster of the school”.

Rev. Joachim Dery, Mr Rudolf Tengepare, the accountant of Nandom SHS and the headmaster of Adisadel College in Cape Coast, Mr. William Kusi-Yaboah were relieved of their positions by the GES for allegedly engaging in the “illegal collection of fees and illegal admission of students in the free SHS programme”.
But NASSOBA described the decision as unfair and one that defies the rules of natural justice.
“We note that the disciplinary procedures stipulated in the Ghana Education Service Act, 1995 (Act 506) were not complied with before the disciplinary action was taken against the headmaster and the accountant of the school.
“We take further notice of the fact that the said disciplinary measures were taken without recourse to the Board of Governors of Nandom Senior High School, on which Board NASSOBA is represented. We deem this to be a serious administrative lapse on the part of the Ghana Education Service”.
