Parents appeal for support to enable their child undergo spinal surgery

Parents of 1-and-a-half-year-old child Ryan Ayinsungya Abagbire from Sumbrungu in the Bolgatanga Municipality of Upper East Region are appealing to the general public including corporate bodies to assist the child undergo a spinal surgery.

Little Ryan had early gone through a successful surgery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi to correct a birth defect which blocked his anal opening.

Unfortunately, little Ryan was later diagnosed of another deformity in the spine. He was then referred from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to Foundation of Orthopedic and Complex Spine (FOCOS) Hospital in Accra for the spinal defect to be corrected.

An amount of Ghc 70,320.00 is required for little Ryan to undergo the second surgery. But father of little Ryan, Abagbire Bryn tells A1 News he is incapacitated after exhausting all that he had including a loan which he took for the first surgery.

“I have written to the assembly for support, but I am yet get a support from them. I have also written to the MP, Isaac Adongo, till now, I haven’t heard any response yet”, he said.

In a traumatized state, Mr. Abagbire who says his son’s condition deteriorates daily appeals for support from the public to enable the child undergo the surgery.

“It is supposed to be two surgeries and this Ghc 70,320 is just for the first surgery. According to the FOCOS hospital, if we are not able to do the surgery, then the child will not survive. So, I am appealing to the public and other organizations to support me to safe this child. No contribution is small”, he appealed.
