'Gov’t has laid foundation for economic boom' – Woyongo

Navrongo(UE) – The Government has laid a  strong  foundation for the country’s  economic boom beginning  next year,  Mr  Mark Woyongo ,  the Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central , has said.
“Even though things are very difficult now, there is light at the end of the tunnel.  The foundation for economic boom next year has been laid by the ruling NDC government and that is why all Ghanaians should retain the NDC government to implement more proactive programmes and policies to help improve upon the welfare of all Ghanaians”, he said.
Mr Woyongo, also a Minister of State, said this at a ceremony to launch the JM Ladies Club at Navrongo in the Upper East Region.
He said even though the Economic Intelligence Unit of the United Kingdom had predicted that it would be difficult for the ruling government to retain power in the upcoming general election, it also stated that a strong foundation had been laid for the country’s economic development.
The MP called on the JM Ladies to draw up outreach programmes and to go out in their numbers to the nook and cranny of the constituency, particularly tertiary institutions and villages to win more support for the party.
Mr Woyongo entreated them to be united and to run a decent campaign devoid of insults and personal attacks. He said many supporters of other political parties were defecting to the NDC party and called on the JM Ladies to welcome such persons.
The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Albert Abongo, commended the efforts of the JM Ladies for joining the campaign trail to ensure that the party retained both the Presidential and Parliamentary slots.
He said the development projects and programmes of the Government were unprecedented and asked the Ladies to build their campaign messages around that.
Alhaji Baba Alhassan, the Constituency Chairman, said the party would win 99 per cent of votes in the constituency in the upcoming election, and called on the JM Ladies not to be complacent but solicit everybody’s vote for the NDC.
The President of the JM Ladies, Ms Jane Azaah, said the group would work hard to ensure that the party wins convincingly in the constituency.
The Secretary of the group, Ms Sayakula Amadu, who appealed for logistic support indicated the group would draw up action plans targeting a lot of constituents in the area.
The executives of the Club include Ms Candida Azaah, Vice President,   Ms Habiba Moro, the Organizer, Ms Juliana Singh, Deputy Organizer, Ms Theresa Babaveri, Deputy Secretary, Ms Janet Akuba, Treasurer and Ms Memuna Seidu, Deputy Treasurer.
