University for Development Studies (UDS), has donated medical supplies to four health facilities within its catchment area to help improve healthcare delivery to the people in the communities.

The items worth GHȼ100,000.00 included disposable syringes, weighing scales, plasters, cotton wool, gloves, disinfectants among others.

The beneficiary health facilities are located at Gongnia, a suburb of Navrongo; Piisi, a suburb of Wa; Nyankpala and Sagnarigu, all being towns where UDS’ four campuses are located.

Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, Vice-Chancellor of UDS, who presented the items to representatives of the beneficiary health facilities in Tamale, said the gesture was the University’s way of extending a helping hand towards improved healthcare delivery in the communities.

Professor Teye said UDS, in its 25 years of existence, has benefited immensely from the communities in its catchment area especially through support given its students during community engagements as part of the Third Trimester Field Practical Training Programme.

Mrs. Regina Azotikemah, a Community Health Nurse at Gongnia CHPS Compound, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiary facilities, expressed appreciation to the Management of UDS for the gesture saying the items would be used for its intended purpose.
