As part of activities marking the 2019 edition of the “21 days of Y’ello Care”, staff of MTN in the Upper East Region have trained some 50 youth selected across the Upper East Region in some employable skills.

The beneficiary youth were trained to be able to offer digital solutions, do facial make-ups and produce beads and design some crafts with beads.

Speaking at the programme, MTN’s Territory Sales Controller for Upper East Region, Richard Asamane said as part of their mandate in contributing to communities, every year from 1st to 21st June, MTN staff do what he described as staff volunteerism activities that impacts positively on the communities they operates in.

According to Mr. Asamane, this year across Ghana, MTN is training 500 youths in employable skills of which 50 youth in Upper East Region have benefited.

Aside the employable skill training organized for these youth, MTN also embarked on a campaign against youth who are engaged in the abuse of alcohol and other dangerous substances.

Mr. Asamane however stressed that, MTN choose drug abuse as one of their campaign for this year’s “21 days of Y’ello Care” because statistics by World Health Organization (WHO) has shown that, substance and drug abuse have become the most alarming dangers confronting the youth.
