Mion MP constructs classroom block for Sang Zakariyya JHS

Mr Abdul-Aziz Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Mion, has constructed a three-unit classroom block for Sang Zakariyya Junior High School in the Northern Region.

The new classroom block is to serve as an additional infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of pupils of the school and to enhance access to education facilities in the area.

Mr Abdul-Aziz, who handed over the facility to authorities of the school at Sang, the capital of the Mion District, said his priority was to ensure that his constituents had access to basic social amenities especially in the areas of education and quality health care delivery.

He said he was working to increase the number of senior high schools and JHSs in the constituency to offer opportunities to every child.

He said he would continue efforts to complete major educational projects in the District, especially an ongoing three-unit classroom block at Kulkpegu to improve residents’ access to education.

Mr Abdul-Aziz urged parents to strive and invest in the education of their children, ensure that they were regular in school and learn for improved education outcome.

He also urged parents to cooperate with teachers to effectively address the educational challenges likely to affect the development of children in the area.

Mr Freeman Baba, Deputy Director in-charge of Finance and Administration at the Mion District Directorate of Education, expressed gratitude to the MP for his intervention.

Mr Baba urged parents to desist from engaging children in farming activities during school hours to ensure that pupils were regular in school.

Mr Issah Issahaku, Headmaster of Sang Zakariyya JHS, thanked the MP for his support saying “the provision of the new classrooms will boost education in the area and stop children from travelling long distances to access education.”
