Media Tasked to Wage War on Poor Sanitation in Kumasi

The assembly man for the people of Ahinsan Estate electoral area, Nana Yaw Wiredu has urged the media, especially, those within the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to declare war on poor sanitation that has become albatross on our neck as citizens and as Assembly members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
To him, the media proved beyond doubt during the fighting of illegal mining that led to the arrest of one Aisha Huang, aka galamesay queen,a Chinese national and that if they also do same on sanitation, Kumasi will become one of the cleanliness city in Ghana.
If this can be done, the assembly man said, the media should give platforms to some stakeholders including the assembly members on their respective networks to give education on how dangerous if sanitations issues are not handled properly.
Speaking to the New Crusading Guide at True Vine Hotel after the Kumasi metropolitan chief executive, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi had finished delivery his sessional address, Nana Yaw Wiredu said, in order for the chief executive’s vision to make Kumasi a clean city, the media, especially, the radio stations should allocate some airtime to educate listeners and citizens the important of keeping our environment clean from filth to avoid contracting an uncontrollable disease.
The assembly man who doubles as the Kumasi metropolitan assembly Environmental and Sanitation sub-committee convener hinted that the role of the media to put their energy to fight for clean environment cannot be underrated and that the media should declared extensive war on poor environment just as they did to prosecute government agenda of the fight against unlawful mining in the country.
The media, Nana Yaw Wiredu said, is powerful and therefore if the campaign starts early, it will help the MCE of Kumasi in the person of Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi to achieved his vision of meeting his goal on his performance on Sanitation.
He commended some media houses in Kumasi for the campaign on poor sanitation but said, if it could be increase to become a whole city war to fight for clean environment and prevent any future occurrences, the media will again register a landmark on their field of work.
Recounting on several moves the assembly has executed to combat filth that has engulfed the city, he said, though, the KMA has done a lot but it is a wakeup call for all citizens to stand up against filth and that if this can be done unless we change our mindset as responsible citizens in order to achieve the clean city we are talking about.
