A youth group within the ruling New Patriotic Party government is asking the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to rescind his decision of appointing one Mr. Norbert Ankuh as the chief executive for GRIDCO as it has been alleged.
According to them, they are notifying the chief commander of the Ghana Armed Forces over some corrupt deals Mr.Ankuh has been engaged with.
In a petition copied to the office of the President and the chief of Staff cited by the New Crusading Guide, the youth group whom according them are exercising their social mandate indicated that, Mr.Norbert was confirmed by the then NDC administration and was in bed with the NDC in the 2012 general election.
Nana Yaw Boampong who is the spokesperson for the group told the New Crusading Guide in an interview that, it is alleged that Mr. Norbert who was appointed by the NDC government in 2009 as acting director of Engineering at GRIDCO procured a switch gear at the cost of $13.5million which to them is unbelievable.
He said, the matter which was reported to the then CEO of GRIDCO for an investigation to be carried was referred to the EOCO for enquiries and since then, the report of the finding was never made known to the public but Mr.Ankuh Norbert was removed from Office.
Mr. Yaw Boampong, who is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party hinted that if the CEO post is given to Mr. Norbert Ankuh, he will be sabotaging the NPP government led by his able leadership, President Nana Addo, because he is still in bed with some personalities within the NDC.
He alleged that, per their information, Mr.Norbert Ankuh is lobbying his new post through a former deputy minister for power, Mr.John Jinapor to speak to his brother who is now a deputy chief of staff at the seat of government, Mr.Abu Jinapor to assist him to secure the CEO post at GRIDCO.
“Mr. Norbert Ankuh made his friend form a company called Fred and Merff limited to secure most contracts at GRIDCO for his Kick back”, Nana Yaw Boampong told the New Crusading Guide.
This, according to the spokesperson of the group said, has made them lost trust in Mr. Norbert Ankuh and that per their research, he does not merit to occupy any government position within the NPP administration and that the President should rescind his decision of appointing him to the office of chief executive of GRIDCO.
Reacting to the allegation, Mr.Norbert Ankuh told the New Crusading Guide that, all what the group are saying is never true but confirmed that the matter was referred to EOCO and they came out with their findings which set him free.
“I was tagged as an NPP activist during the days of NDC administration and that is why I was removed from office as the director of engineering at GRIDCO”, he explained.
