Kotintaabig Chief appeals to government to work on deplorable roads in his community

The chief of Kotintaabig Community in the Nabdam District in the Upper East Region has appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency come to their aid by working on the deplorable roads in the community.

The chief also called on the Member of Parliament, Mark Kurt Nawaane for the Nabdam Constituency to fulfill his 2016 campaign promise to improve on the state of roads in the community.

Naba Biileeh-Song Lag Nwonhit made this appealed at the 3rd anniversary celebration of his installment as a Chief of Kotintaabig. In his view the community members will benefit immensely if the roads worked on.

It will also open the community up for local investments and attract development projects.

According to the chief about 89 percent of the community members are commercial farmers and finds it difficult to transport their products from the farms to the preferred destinations due to the bad nature of the roads.

“If indeed, these roads are worked on, there will not be shortages of food in various communities surrounding us, because mostly the farmers are not able to sell much. They only take home a small portion, while the bulk of their farm produces rot in the farm.” He said.

The anniversary which brought together top officials both chiefs and educationalists from far and near including the Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, Mark Kurt Nawaane.

The MP hinted that measures have been put in place to work on roads in the community, stressing that what has been promised by him will surely be worked on.

Although, the MP did not give specific time to that effect, some members of the community were hopeful, saying the Member of Parliament is a man of his words, hence they are praying for the best.
