Upper East hosts NDPC stakeholder consultation on Ghana’s long-term development

The National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) has engaged Municipal and District Chief Executives and their planning officers in the Upper East Region as part of consultations toward preparing Ghana’s Consolidated National Development Plan.

Chairman of the NDPC, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, said the exercise is aimed at gathering feedback from those implementing government policies to understand why some initiatives fail and how future plans can be improved. He noted that the new planning approach will be anchored on the Directive Principles of State Policy in the 1992 Constitution to ensure policy continuity across political administrations.

Director-General of the NDPC, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, emphasized that effective planning, implementation and monitoring of district development plans are essential for achieving national development goals.

Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, welcomed the engagement and highlighted the region’s human potential and opportunities in agriculture, trade, renewable energy and tourism. He stressed that the national development plan must transcend political cycles and guide sustainable and inclusive development for present and future generations.
