Upper East Regional Minister Visits Family of Late Bongo DCE Ahead of Funeral

The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, on Sunday visited the family of the late Joseph Abaa Akaseke at Zorko to commiserate with them and discuss arrangements for the funeral scheduled to begin on April 10, 2026.

The late District Chief Executive for Bongo District passed away on February 22, 2026, at the Upper East Regional Hospital after a short illness.

During the visit, the minister inspected a stream crossing near the family house and discussed plans to construct a bridge to make the road to the residence motorable. He also explored other possible interventions, including the provision of a mechanized borehole to support the family and the surrounding community.

Hon. Atanga was accompanied by the Bongo Constituency NDC Chairman, Tahir Aberinga, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga MunicipalityRoland Ayoo Atanga.

While at the residence, the minister interacted with the wife of the late DCE and other women of the family.

He later met with the leadership of the Bongo District Assembly staff, led by the Coordinating Director, to further discuss and finalize arrangements for the upcoming funeral.
