NAB Demands Further And Better Particulars Before Converting Bolgatanga Polytechnic To Technical University

Though students and tutors at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic in the Upper East Region are of the view that the school has met the necessary requirements to become a technical university and are calling on relevant authorities to fast track the conversion, the National Accreditation Board(NAB) has said otherwise.
The Board insists that despite the school meeting some requirements, scrutiny needs to be done before it can be fully converted into a technical university.
Failing to pinpoint some of the requirements that were preventing the school from becoming a Technical University, the Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board, Kingsley Nyarko explained that Bolgatanga and Wa Polytechnics both need to meet certain requirements that will qualify them to be upgraded to technical university status.
“Yes, these two institutions were part of the 8 institutions that have university status and they are going through the process to become technical universities when the process consummated, Wa and Bolgatanga will be given that process as well” He indicated.
Mr. Nyarko speaking at a media seminar organized by the National Accreditation Board for Tertiary Education in Tamale however, expressed optimism that the Bolgatanga Polytechnic will be converted after the thorough assessment.
“When is not known, but I’m certain that these two institutions will definitely meet the requirements to become technical universities. And if they are, I will be happy and I know students too as well will be happy” He said.
Meanwhile, the Rector of the Bolgatanga Polytechnic, Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, on numerous occasions, has made calls on relevant authorities to fast-track the processes for the conversion of the institution into a Technical University.
