According to the Authority, its target of building 250 household latrines in three communities in the district this year may not be achieved because the District Assembly has declined in supporting with logistics.

The Garu District Director of the National Youth Authority, Salifu Anaba raised this concern in an exclusive interview with A1 Radio.

“In fact NYA was surprised to hear from the Assembly that, it was not ready to support our outfit with logistics upon receiving our project in good faith. We were aiming at building 250 household latrines to these communities which for long time have been practicing open defecation, but the decline by the Assembly made us to only provide 177 household latrines.”

Meanwhile the Garu District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Avoka Asore upon assuring A1 Radio to respond to the claims later declined, for reasons best known to himself.
