Saboba (NR): House belonging to Dagbon Regent’s wife razed down

Twenty rooms of a compound house, property and educational documents of tenants worth thousands of Ghana Cedis have been destroyed by fire at Saboba in the Northern Region.

The compound house, which is occupied by mostly government workers including; workers of World Vision International belongs to Madam Mariam Abudulai, a wife of Kampakuya Na Andani Yakubu Abudulai, Regent of Dagbon.

Although, an official report has not been given, the landlady speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an exclusive interview suspected fire from either electricity or a gas cylinder.

She thanked all those who came out with water to help put off the fire.

Madam Mariam who is the elder wife of the Regent said due to the explosion of some gas cylinders in some of the rooms, a number of people who tried to break through the windows to salvage things from some of the rooms got frightened and fled.

She said Mr Bakanja Yimakan Assemblyman for Saboba West Electoral Area and a number of people used pick-axes to cut through some of the rooms to bring out some few items from one of the rooms.

She indicated that before the Personnel of the Yendi Ghana Fire Service arrived in Saboba all the rooms were destroyed by the fire.

Madam Mariam said the Personnel of the Ghana Fire Service driving 65km to Saboba was such a long journey for them to help the situation and appealed to the government to establish a Ghana Fire Service station in Saboba.

No human casualty was recorded
