Nabdam MP supports BECE candidates with Ghc 10,250, educational materials

Member of Parliament for Nabdam in the Upper East Region, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane as part of his yearly support towards education in the area, has donated 800 mathematical sets, 800 exercise books and an amount of Ghc10, 250.00 to support the District Ghana Education Service (GES) in the organization mock examinations for 2019 candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) .
According to the MP,  the amount given to the GES is meant for organising a cost-free mock examinations for the candidates.

“In 2015 when I became a parliamentary candidate, I wasn’t yet in parliament. As a ritual, every year I assisted the directorate. In 2016, I gave them mathematical sets and donated an amount of money to assist them with their mock and I was then not an MP and that ritual has continued. In 2017 I did it, in 2018 I was here to do the same thing and am here once again to present to you a cheque for your mock an amount of Ten Thousand, Two hundred and fifty Ghana cedis (GHC10, 250.00) to assist the directorate organize the mock and am hoping that with this sort of assistance definitely it will be free for the students.” He explained

Dr. Nawaane encouraged the candidates to focus on their books and work harder in order to make their dreams come through.

“If you want to be like our madam standing here, if you want to be like the district director of Education standing, if you want to be like your Member of Parliament or the tutors who are here, you got to work hard now. You have got 5 critical years and if you make good use of the 5 critical years, you will not be a drop out. Work very very hard’ definitely something good will come out from it.” He advised

Having expressed satisfaction with the  level of cooperation he has enjoyed so far with GES Directors both past and present in the district, Dr. Nawaane revealed that he is liaising with administrators of the MPs’ Social Intervention Fund to pass his social intervention fund through the education directorate to enable the directorate  initiate more projects in the district.

Receiving the donation from the MP,  the Nabdam District Director of education,  Timothy Naasal Yuonuo said, “We received this item with joy and we thank you so much for that, because we believe that this will go a long way to help the candidates and it will serve as a motivation to the candidates and it is our hope that we will use them judiciously to their benefit and we expect that with this, the result will improve. I must say apart from the honorable having a good heart in helping us in terms of mock exams and BECE, he also sponsored our Science, Technology, Mathematics and Innovation Education (STMIE) in the district and also at the Regional level and being a doctor,  he cherishes science so much. So he is out here to help our children.”
