Ghanaian hospitality industry urged to promote local identity

Manager of Golden Horse Hotel at Yorogo, in the Upper East Region, Robert Abugre has urged Ghanaian hospitality industry players to use their facilities to promote and project indigenous items and symbols, as well as names of communities they operate in.

The fast growing hotel, located in a serene atmosphere at Yorogo, in the Bolgatanga Municipality, has its rooms named after some notable communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality, unlike the usual way of identifying hotel rooms with numbers.

According to Mr. Abugre, Management of Golden Horse seeks to redefine a pathway for the Ghanaian Hospitality Industry.
“If a customer spends a night in Golden Hotel, we expect the customer to know at least, a name of a suburb of in the Bolgatanga Municipality, because the rooms are named after some suburbs in Bolgatanga. That makes us unique from the other hotels. This is the first time we are having this in the Hospitality Industry.” Robert Abugre explained.
The Golden hotel has two huge statues of horses placed on a beautifully crafted podium at the entrance of the hotel. The two horses; one Gold and the other, White form part of the logo and identity of the Hotel.
According to the Manager, the White Horse symbolizes the Traditional Authority of Northern Chiefs and the Gold Horse represents the Traditional Authority of Southern Chiefs of Ghana.”
The Manager said this when the hotel hosted some media personnel in the Upper East Region as part of its move to build a rapport with the media.
Touching the meals served, the Manager indicated that, the hotel provides rabbit meat and a special Yorogo breakfast and golden horse chicken, which makes the hotel unique.
Mr. Abugre entreated Managers and owners of hotels in the Upper East Region to collaborate in providing the best hostility service patrons deserve.
Golden Horse Hotel envisages leading a transformational agenda in Northern Ghana in providing the best of service for the emulation of the Ghanaian hospitality industry.
