The headmaster of Aduman senior high school in the Afigya Kwabre district Assembly of Ashanti region,Mr Akwasi Adu, is asking government to come to their aid as the road linking from Kodie junction to the school is in deplorable state.
Apart from that the school lacks vital amenities such as absence of assembly hall, inadequate master’s bungalows, uncompleted classroom and dormitory accommodations, vehicles and lack of well defined library complex.
The headmaster, Mr Akwasi Adu in his address during the 50th anniversary celebration with the theme: “Preparing an unprepared child for academic laurels, the role of stakeholders”, re -emphasized that this road network makes the school vehicles breakdown so easily.
According to him, in the absence of assembly hall in the school, students converge in the open for regular and routine assemblies at the mercy of the weather and this necessitates a call for an ultra modern multipurpose assembly hall to accommodate students during gathering.
The headmaster explained that the school has only fifteen bungalows as against a teaching staff population of ten(10) and that slows academic works.
Touching on the attitudes of students, he said many things have changed and many of the students in various schools seems to have no clear ambition as to why they are in school.
Mr. Akwasi Adu stated that there are others who are in school just for fun(social interaction) and this and many reasons, most of students nowadays don’t focused more on academic work.
He used the occasion to charge students to focus more on their books than focusing on social interactions.
The Ashanti regional minister Hon. John Alexander Ackon, on his part said education continues to remain the bedrock of virtually every economy for human development and therefore without education no comprehensive and sustainable development plan can be executed.
He appealed to the Ghana Education Service to tightened it’s supervision role so that the quality of education that we are yearning for would be completely achieved.
Hon. John Alexander Ackon assured that government will continue to motivate those entrusted with the education of our future leaders so that in partnership, we can produce leaders of integrity and well disciplined.
He charged students to work hard in order to live up to the expectations of their beloved parents, teachers, the society and Ghana at large.
