Rainstorm rips off Sokabisi Primary School block

Sokabisi Primary School Block



A 3-unit classroom block serving the upper primary of Sokabisi Primary School in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region was ripped off following the heavy rainfall last Saturday that was accompanied with a heavy storm.

A dilapidated mud structure which also served as a kindergarten department of the school was not spared as its entire roofing was taken off.

A teacher of the school, Abiiro Raymond said about 250 pupils will be displaced if school reopens in the next academic term.

“If you schools resumes it is going to be a tough time for us and we calling for immediate intervention” he appealed.

Assembly member for Tanzui/Zorbisi/Sokabisi electoral area, Atinga Sampson called for support from the assembly and Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central towards re-roofing the school.

“We are unable to do anything about the situation unless we fall on the assembly and the MP” he indicated.
