PNC's Johnson Ayine is now NPP’s Upper East Regional Deputy Communications Director

A leading member of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Johnson Ayine has been appointed the Deputy Upper East Regional Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party.

His appointment has not come as a surprise to many political watchers and actors, because of long held perceptions about his affiliation to the New Patriotic Party.
Speaking about his appointment, Johnson Ayine said,  it came to him as a surprise, but he has accepted the challenge and will subsequently present his official resignation to the People’s National Convention.
Mr. Ayine added that he is willing to contribute towards the development of the New Patriotic Party and the region as a whole.
“First of all, let me send my gratitude to the entire Regional Executives headed by the competent Lawyer Anthony Namoo and the Communication Team of the NPP and the country as whole and all the Constituency Executives and Polling Station and Electoral Executives. I am glad for the honor done me by the Regional Executives, and for giving me this opportunity. It was really a surprise to me, the whole day, I was at home so around 1:00pm, I left the house for town and was I around hotline spot when the dynamic Regional Secretary of Party called that I was needed at the Party office. So when I got there; myself and Sanusi, something was going through my mind and in short while, I was invited before the Executives and the eulogies the Regional Chairman gave me on behalf of the Regional Executive wasn’t a small thing. I have never known that people like that monitor our programme, to extent of acknowledging our effort as far as Communication is concerned in the Upper East region. He ended up saying that, they don’t even know what they are going to use to reward me but, will I be happy if I am made an official member of the NPP Communication Team? I said what is wrong with that and they said, will you be happy if you are given the role to play as the NPP Deputy Regional Communication Director? Then I said, yes I was honored.” He narrated
Meanwhile, Regional Secretary of the People’s National Convention, Albert Adongo says the Party has not had any official communication about Johnson Apasinaba Ayine leaving the Party.
According to him, he also heard it in the media, and the PNC cannot take that as an official communication and will wait till Johnson Ayine writes officially to the Party, before he(the Regional Secretary) can talk to the Press about that.
