Fire burns Police Cargo truck in Navrongo

A vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service has been consumed by fire in Navrongo in the Kasena/Nankana Municipal Assembly of the Upper East Region.
The cargo truck which arrived in the municipality got burnt moments later after it was driven into a welder’s shop for some maintenance work.
Information is not readily available at the moment, but a source disclosed that the vehicle was relocating some officers of the service and their families to the Navrongo Police command.
The cause of the fire is not known, but an eyewitness said the negligence on the side of driver and welder to have the battery terminals disconnected before the welding procedure, caused the combustion.
There were no casualties, except for the large number of household items that got destroyed by the inferno.
As at the time of filing this report, a team of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service had moved to the scene and doused the fire which burnt a good part of the heavily loaded truck.
The Municipal Police Command is yet to make an official statement on the incident.
