Mining regulatory bodies urged to fast track documents

Mr Victor Gadri, the Managing Director of the Tripple Key Mining Company Limited, has appealed to the mining regulatory bodies to fast track the processing of mining documents for companies in the sector to thrive.
He said prolonged delays in preparing requisite documents has hindered the activities of some mining companies.
Mr Gadri made the appeal after he donated some food items to the Wemoatu Widows and Orphans Ministry at Navrongo in the Kassena Nankana Municipal, Upper East Region.
The items included 200 bags of maize, 200 bags of Jasmine rice, 34 cartons of cooking oil and 20 cartons of sardine all valued at GHC83,900.00.
He said the donation formed part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to support the less privileged in the society.
Mr Gadri said there were good mining prospects in some parts of the Region and the company planned to extend its activities to create more employment for the youth in the area.
Mr Mark Woyongo, the Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Constituency, commended the company for helping the vulnerable in the society.
The Navrongo Constituency, like other parts of the Upper East Region often experience a lean season between February and May due to poor yields and so the food would help the beneficiaries to go through the period without suffering, he said.
Mr Woyongo said there were many widows in the area in need of support and appealed to other philanthropists and cooperate bodies to come to their aid.
“I have been supporting them in diverse ways including purchasing a bus for them to undertake their activities but that is not enough. There is more blessing in supporting the vulnerable especially widows and orphans and I encourage everybody to come to their aid.
Mrs Lamisi Weyiramogwi Atiim, the Director and Founder of Wemoatu Widows and Orphans Ministry, expressed her gratitude to the mining company for the support and said the donation would help sustain the widows in the society.
She said most of the widows were not registered on the National health insurance scheme and also needed some vocational skills training to be able to support themselves and their children.
She appealed for support in the area of scholarship schemes for the children of the widows.
