Savelugu MCE officially resumes office

Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, Savelugu/Nanton Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on Wednesday officially to her seat, a month after she was confirmed and sworn in to take over the administration of the Assembly.
Hajia Ayishetu could not immediately resume office because some youth in the Savelugu constituency believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) barred her from taking over the administration with the claim that she is not a registered voter in the constituency.
Some members of the Northern Regional Security Council led by Alhaji Alhassan Ishahaku, the Coordinating Director, came to witness Hajia Seidu’s official resumption of office.
Alhaji Ishahaku, who represented Mr Salifu Saeed, the Northern Regional Minister, appealed to all opposing the MCE to allow peace to prevail for development in the area to occur.
He said the absence of an MCE, who is the political head of the Municipality, would derail the development agenda and urged all to remain calm and support the MCE to execute her mandate.
Hajia Seidu said she would run an open door administration to ensure the smooth running of the Assembly and appealed to those against her to have the development of the Municipality at heart and forgive her.
She said she holds no grudge against anyone and stressed that she sees everyone in the constituency as one people with a common aim of developing the area and promised to bring all on board for the smooth running of the Assembly.
Hajia Seidu later signed some documents and cheques, which had been lying on her desk for a while, as a result of her absence.
