You might have heard of how Ghana’s slave trade took the young and strong to the shores of Europe and America, but you may not know how their journey began from up North some four hundred years ago.
You may also have heard about the Paga Crocodile Pond and its crocodiles or might have touched one but there is more to it.
Patrons on the Heritage Caravan have been sharing their experiences about their nostalgic feelings after visiting the Pikworo Slave Market and the Paga Crocodile Pond.
It was a rare moment for some of the patrons.
These Crocodiles have a lot of mysteries to their existence.
There are four crocodiles ponds in Paga which is home to over 500 crocodiles.
It has drawn many tourists from far and near to the area.
The Caravan’s next stop was the Pikworo Slave Market also in Paga.
It was full of startling revelations of how some 400 hundred years ago the slave market started in the Upper East region.
Narrations by the tour guides sent shivers down the spine of many.
It was not just a tour, it was an emotional journey to unravel the mystery behind the selling of our forefathers into slavery.
After that emotional and reflective journey, the Caravan made a quick stop at the Ghana Burkina Boarder at Paga. That was a wrap for the Caravan for day four.
About the Heritage Caravan
The Heritage Caravan gives patrons an exciting experience, as they tour various regions and exciting destinations of the country.
This year, the Caravan is visiting 14 of the 16 regions in Ghana.
The Caravan which took off in Accra on Saturday, March 2, 2019, has been to the Volta Region, Ashanti Region, Northern Region, Upper East among other places.
The Caravan will end on March 9, 2019.
