The ‘grassroots’ are calling for me, and I’ve answered – NDC’s Cletus AVOKA announces ZEBILLA seat comeback

Former Majority leader in Ghana’s parliament and former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Zebilla constituency in the Upper East region, Cletus Apul Avoka, has described as pure ignorance and childish on the part of some people calling on him to set the National Democratic Congress (NDC) loose in the area by shelving his ambition to stage a comeback in 2020, stating that the grassroots are calling for him.
In an exclusive interview with MyNewsGh.com in reaction to an article written by a journalist, Cletus Abaare who serves as the Managing Editor of the National Tribute newspaper impressing on Mr. Avoka to shield any dreams of contesting again as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Zebilla constituency, the former Minister said he was going all out to contest
Hon. Avoka stated that he is only harboring the dreams of contesting again for the parliamentary seat (which the NPP’s Hon. Fuseinu Adongo “snatched” from him) because the grassroots are calling on him.
‘My party hasn’t opened the parliamentary nominations yet and if they do, I will file to contest the primaries as an MP because the grassroots want me to come.’ He said.
But in the lengthy article sighted by MyNewsGh.com calling on Hon. Cletus Avoka to bow out of party politics in the Zebilla constituency, Mr. Abaare explained that it will be the height of effrontery and brigandage for Hon Avoka to rub insult into the already wounded psyche of the usually easy-going people of Bawku West whose jugular has been under his suffocating grips in the past two decades. The NDC in the constituency surely needs a new breath and nothing less is expected.
Portions read…”I am not good at tickling great intellectuals like Hon Avoka into the memory of yesterday but if I should do so, I would only whisper into his hardened ears that the people were and are fed up with him. That the red-eyed people wanted him out and that is still necessary. That the enough is enough syndromes that had overtaken their political affiliation in 2016 is still glaringly visible. And they will not hesitate to kick his butts one more time if he should dare make a comeback in 2020. A smart politician, as he claims to be, should know when to call it a day and retire with respect, integrity, love, honour and dignity.
