World Vision Ghana, a Non- Governmental Organization interested in children’s education and welfare, has donated 100 dual desks to two primary schools in the Kasena-Nankana West District in the Upper East Region.

Speaking to the media after the donation and handing over exercise, the Cluster Programmes Manager of World Vision in the Kasena-Nankana West District, Robert Pwazaga said, Kandiga and Rev. Father Morin Primary schools were chosen to be assisted based on the report they gathered after touring some schools in the district.

Meanwhile, District Director of Education, Victoria Mahama Aganale who received the furniture on behalf of the schools, expressed satisfaction with the kind gesture shown by World Vision. She acknowledged that lack of furniture is a major challenge in almost all schools in her district but, hoped that the district assembly is making plans to supply furniture to some of the schools in need.

She is confident, that the two beneficiary schools, will handle the furniture with care so as to prolong their useful state.

Some beneficiary girls with their re-usable sanitary pads

However, World Vision Ghana also donated 1000 re-usable sanitary pads to girls in 16 schools in the same district. The donation of the sanitary pads to the school girls was as a result of the difficult times some of the girls find themselves during their menstruation period. The situation has widely been reported to have compelled some girls to stay at home during the period, due to lack of money to secure sanitary pads.

According to World Vision, it is very dangerous and inappropriate for students to miss classes because of sanitary pads, the reason they came to their rescue.
