Good music is powerful than awards – Kofi Kinaata

Fante rapper, Kofi Kinaata says the reason he does music is to entertain and educate the youth in Ghana and around the globe and not just to win awards, like some musicians crave for.

He did not want to talk much about music awards in Ghana or elsewhere, neither was he ready to say anything about his absence from the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards nomination lists.

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards formerly Ghana Music Awards was established in early 2000 to celebrate Ghanaian musicians and since, Kofi Kinaata surfaced in the music industry and started making waves, he has not had any recognition for in inputs and the impact his songs have had on many Ghanaians, especially the youth.

The rapper whose real name is Martin King Arthur is from Takoradi in the Western Region and is noted for his unique Fante rap style.

The rapper on different media platforms, always mentions how unfair the award industry (VGMA) has been towards his style of music.

Speaking to Asapoka Priscilla on A1 Radio’s program “Work and Happiness”, Kofi Kinaata explained that, he will continue to do music regardless of winning awards or not.

“I did not choose music, rather, music chose me, so I’m just here to do music, and I will continue doing my best. Music is not always about awards, but how it brings change to the heart of the youth.” The rapper said.

He also noted that, since he started doing professional music, he has been submitting his songs to the Award house for the VGMA, but all have not yielded positive results, but will continue to be doing his best as his fan base in every sections of the country continue to grow.

Meanwhile in 2017 Charger Limited, the producer of “Happy Man Bitters” gave the Fante rapper an opportunity to travel to the Upper East Region to perform live for his fan base, which he said was good for his career.

Kofi Kinaata has however assured his fans that he will continue to give them nothing but the best lyrics they desire, but called for their prayers and support always.
