The
battle lines have been drawn and the campaign has kicked start following the
declaration by Mike Zuri to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP),
parliamentary primaries in the Nabdam Constituency of Upper East Region.
Mr.
Zuri on Facebook with a poster indicated that a call by the people of Nabdam
for him to lead them “has been long, loud and
clear”.
“And the voice of the people is the voice of God. I count
on everyone’s continuous prayers and support. Victory for Mike Zuri is victory
for the people”.
The God-fearing young politician who prides himself as one who
has “love, compassion, humility, service and quality leadership” for the people
of Nabdam and the region as a whole expressed optimism of unseating the
incumbent National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) MP, Dr. Kurt Nawaane.
The
much awaited declaration attracted well-wishers, family members, friends, media
personnel, and politicians who described him as “A
New Hope” to lead the people of Nabdam.
“When God choose no man can stand against Him, you have been chosen
by God. We are by [your] side with prayers”, a comment by Agnes Ajuah.
Upper East Regional Secretary of People’s National Convention
(PNC), Albert Adongo wrote “Humbly servant, wishing you well”.
A renowned broadcast journalist, Osman Abadoo Pusher commented
“Wow great to see you put up yourself cox I [know] for sure one day you will
have to take up the challenge. Wish you all the best Mr. Mike Zuri, very
hardworking”.
Another known face in the media landscape, Adugbire Adoliyine
Cletus commented, “The next MP for Nabdam Constituency. May the favour of God
be your portion”.
“Best candidate for Nabdam’s. Highly competent, let’s all rally
behind him for the betterment of Nabdam and our motherland Ghana as a whole”, a
comment by Anaam Cletus.
Maxwell Adombire who could not hide his excitement wrote, “Can’t
wait to see you in Parliament, gentle physically n in spirit. Humanity is what
your opponent(s) lack”.
The unanimous support for Mr. Zuri on the social media attracted
a generous person, Barimaba Ntim Gyakari who commented “My boss, kindly drop
your MoMo number so some of us can contribute to the campaign chest. Nabdam
indeed, deserves the best and you are the best”.
The bigwig of NPP who is a force to reckon with, according to
sources has been tipped by many people including members of the NDC as the next
law-maker to represent the people of Nabdam in the next parliament.
