Wa Municipal Assembly: GH50,000 Covid-19 Funds Went Missing In 2020

The Wa Municipal Assembly has failed to account for how it used a 50,000 Ghana Cedis Covid-19 fund.

According to the 2020 Auditors General Report on the use of the District Assemblies Common Fund, the Wa Municipal Assembly failed to account for 50,000 Ghana Cedis funds meant for Covid-19, as no evidence was provided by the Assembly to support disbursement and accountability of the funds.

This according to the Auditor General is in contravention of Regulation 78 of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019 (L.I .2378).

According to the report, the funds were either misappropriated or it was used for unintended purposes. The Auditor-General has therefore recommended that the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Finance Officer should be made to refund the missing 50,000 Ghana Cedis Covid-19 funds into the Assembly’s account.
