Government through the Bolgatanga municipal assembly constructed a new abattoir complex in Yorogo community a suburb of Bolga.
The Ghc1.2m installation was to ease congestion, provide a hygienic environment for meat to be processed and other technological peripherals among others.
The completed facility was handed over to the butchers by the regional minister Tangoba Abayage and Mce Joseph Atura Amiyuure in 2019. READ ALSO:How Nabdam Mp plans using his own resources to drill more boreholes
Sadly, the the butchers resisted attempts by the assembly to get them relocated. They sighted numerous reasons for their reluctance.
According to them where the facility is located is very far away from the market. This they say will affect their movements.
Getting the cattle to the same place of the Abattoir is one of the conditions the butchers gave.
Meanwhile, the MCE has to given assurance that he will ensure the butchers move to the new site by the end of January 2020.
”I’ve mentioned the abattoir and the concerns we had with it. The butchers think it is far from town there’s no area that is far from town. We have trained people for the job. I want to give you by the close of January the butchers will move to the shop” he declared
He was speaking at the maiden Tigsitaaba festival by the people of Yorogo in December 2019.
