Upper West Police Command Circulates a Statement on Rate Of Road Accidents

The Upper West Regional Public Relations Officer of Ghana Police Service, Mr. Gideon Ohene Boateng has Issued a Statement regarding rampant rate of Accidents in the Regional Capital, Wa, lately.

According to the Police, this has become necessary due to the magnitude of harm being caused on vulnerable road users.

Statement

“The Upper West Regional Police Command wishes to inform the general public of its intention to clamp down on various misconducts of road users on roads in the wa Municipality.

The Command therefore advise the general public to desist from such misconducts on the road and also wishes to state that, it has to come to the notice of the Command regarding the rampant accidents occurring in the Municipality and mostly, these accidents are not reported for investigation to prevent or minimize the occurrences of these accidents. Notably of these misconducts includes; parking on the shoulders of the road, driving beyond the speed limit in town, riding or driving without side mirrors and among others.

The Command wishes to state categorically that, it will clamp down on these misconducts on the roads and those found culpable will be prosecuted at a Court of competent jurisdiction to serve as a deterrent to others. Roads mentioned below are prone to serious accidents; Police roundabout to Kambali junction Main traffic light through to NIB to T-junction Main traffic light through Methodist to Kpaguri junction, Metro Mass area, Insurance road.”
