Two suspects Arrested in Tamale for lynching man

Police in Tamale has arrested two men at Sawaba, a suburb of Tamale for allegedly leading a mob to lynch two suspected motorbike thieves.
Fifty-year-old Seidu Adam and his 36-year-old counterpart, Darku Alhassan Abukari alias Nakorah allegedly committed the crime on October 23, 2019.
According to the Northern Regional Crime Officer, Supt Kwabena Otuo Acheampong, preliminary investigation suggests that after the mob suspected the two of having stolen a motorbike; one was instantly killed leaving the other unconscious.
“What we have gathered so far indicates that, someone saw the two persons riding a motorbike and claimed that the bike was a stolen one belonging to him.  But the two insisted that, the bike was theirs so they should all go to the Police station if he disagreed. They asked him to join them at the police station because they would be able to produce any documents but he did not agree.”
“They later went to hide and unleashed mayhem on them. As we speak the motorbike is in our custody. This dawn, the Assembly man led us to the person who brought the motorbike to him, we picked him up together with another man who is believed to have incited the violence on the two and killing one”, he added.
Supt. Kwabena Otuo Acheampong said the body of the deceased, thirty five year old Osmanu Amidu has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue whilst the other Musa Iddrisu is still responding to treatment.
