Chereponi: Another robbery incident involving Ambulance Service Personnel

It appears Ambulance Service Personnel are now the target of armed robbers considering such robbery cases which led to the death of one driver.

Another incident has been recorded in Chereponi in the Northern region where gunmen robbed an ambulance service vehicle at a village called Sunsung.

The ambulance was returning from Chereponi in the North East region to Tamale in the Northern region on Thursday, March 24, 2021.

The gunmen succeeded in robbing occupants of the ambulance of an amount of Ghc 900, mobile phones, and Gotta.

DGN Online understands that the ambulance transported a patient who was discharged from the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The occupants of the ambulance were three ambulance service personnel and the relative of the patient who was transported to Chereponi.

Bekwei Franklin, a relative of the patient told journalists that when they got to a village called Sunsung they realized that a tree was used to block the road.

According to him, when the ambulance stopped, they saw the gunmen come out of the bush and surrounded the ambulance with their guns.

“So we had to surrender and raised our hands for them to do whatever they wanted to do so they pulled us down and started beating us.”

He stated that after robbing them the gunmen fled the scene.

Meanwhile, a report has been lodged at the Yendi police station and their statements have been taken by the police.
