Bolgatanga MCE donates furniture to schools

Municipal Chief Executive for
Bolgatanga, Joseph Amiyuure has donated metal fabricated dual desk to two
schools in Sumbrungu in the Bolgatanga Municipality. The two schools, Sumbrungu
and Azorebisi Primary took delivery of 60 furniture each to facilitate
effective teaching and learning.

Handing the furniture over to the
schools, Mr. Amiyuure said President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo places much
priority on education hence, the introduction of free secondary education.

According to Mr. Amiyuure achieving
a holistic education at the secondary levels involves quality of education at
the basic schools, therefore the donation of the furniture.

The MCE admonished the beneficiary
schools to use the furniture for its purposes

“When I resumed office as Municipal
Chief Executive, I had the opportunity to move round all the schools to
familiarized myself with what was going on in these schools. I realized that
furniture was one of the challenges in the schools. So, I have been doing my
best to equip the schools with furniture…You are aware the resources are
limited, so, it is good that you take good care of the furniture”

Asuriya James, a pupil of Sumbrungu
Primary School, on behalf of the school thanked the MCE for the kind gesture.
He appealed to the assembly for provision of furniture to the teachers to aid
smooth running of academic activities.

Some pupils of these schools until the donation sit on bare floor while others lie prostrate to learn. The situation according to Head teacher of Azorebise, Mercy Titigah contributed to school dropouts.

Madam Titigah while thanking the
assembly for the gesture appealed for a Junior High School Block for the school.

“We are so grateful with the intervention;
the pupils were lying on the floors until these furniture is donated to us. What
we are now appealing for is a JHS since we are the only school in this area
without a JHS”

The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly
intends to stock all schools in the municipality with furniture to improve
teaching and learning.
