District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East in the Upper East Region, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Abugre Abole over the week commissioned 7 boreholes in some selected communities in the district. The community members whom hitherto had no borehole close to their homes trek long distance daily to fetch water.

The
commissioning which was met with excitement and joy from community members was
done in Gonno, Boosiyeh, Kantia, Zuarungu Moshie, Kumbosko and Dulugu.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony Rev. Prof. Abole said the boreholes were among other projects being executed under the Special Initiatives Development Ministry’s ‘1 million dollars per constituency policy.

According to him the gesture was in fulfillment of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2016 campaign promise.

“When
I went round in 2016 campaigning as a Parliamentary Candidate, most of the
concerns from residents were about water. Unfortunately, I didn’t win but the
New Patriotic Party won. So, the president made me the DCE for this area so I
could help him develop it. As someone who doesn’t sleep over your concerns, I
had to quickly look at your water needs which is more important before any
other thing”.

The DCE who assumed office for just 11 months now pledged to leave a positive indelible mark as the first DCE for the area.

According
to him, an ultramodern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS)
compound is being built at Sakarebisi community to meet the health needs of
residents.

On
education, Rev. Prof. Abole indicated that a 1 unit 3 classroom block is under
construction at Dachio to augment the infrastructural needs of pupils.

“I
am leaving no stone unturned in my quest to develop the area as the first DCE,
I am eleven months old in office but I have to prove that I am actually
development oriented. Let’s come together to achieve more of these, for they
say Unity is Strength” he added.

Chief
of Boosiyeh, Naba Alengima Anuntogra who could not hide his joy thanked the DCE
and government for a great relief.

“What
I want to tell you is that, you have given me life. Water as we all know, is
life. I pray that God keep strengthening and protecting you for us”, he
said.

A
resident, Azumah Asampana who was overwhelmed thanked the DCE for providing them
with portable water.
