A member of the New Patriotic Party’s Communication Team, Wilson Daboo has lamented over the poor performance of some elected Members of Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region.
According to Wilson Daboo who appeared unhappy about the inactiveness of some Members of Parliament from the party in the Upper East Region, their actions and inactions have given them a herculean task as communicators of the ruling party.
Mr. Daboo who was speaking on Daybreak Upper East on Monday, July 15 cited the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Zebila Constituency, Frank Fuseini Adongo as an MP who has not lived up to expectations.
He was sharing his views on the closure of nominations for parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress and the calibre of aspirants who have picked nomination forms.
For the Zebila Constituency, a former Member of Parliament and Minister of State, Cletus Apul Avoka picked a form alongside other aspirants who have been described as heavy weights and in the that any of them wins to contest the Parliamentary Election, will pose a serious challenge to the NPP considering the posture of the incumbent MP, Frank Fuseini Adongo.
Asked if the Deputy Minister has performed to his satisfaction, Wilson Daboo said: “He has not, he has not, he has to up his game. You are resident in the region, how many times does he visit the constituency? How come he is no where to be found in his constituency; he is going to make our work difficult for us as communicators.
The people you represent don’t see you and you don’t visit the constituency. Who are you working for?”
Wilson Daboo is the first to openly complain and express fear and doubt over NPP’s ability to maintain the Zebila seat in parliament, but it is an open secret that many members of the New Patriotic Party have lost hope and wish a new candidate will emerge to help the party to retain the seat come 2020.
In 2016, the current (NPP) MP, Frank Fuseini Adongo who was contesting for the second time, polled 22,361 votes representing 49.29 percent, after various groups and individuals who wanted Avoka out, had mounted serious campaigns and implemented various strategies to deactivate all old tricks. The then incumbent (NDC) MP, Cletus Apul Avoka polled 22,121 representing 48.77 percent.
The Zebila Constituency will be an interesting area in the NDC Constituency Primaries as well as the 2020 Parliamentary Election.
