Learn raw history in museums

Museum Director addressing students.....3Museum Director addressing students

The Upper East Regional Museum Director, Prisca Naambome Yenzie has encouraged youth to desist from reading the encoded histories on their phones and rather go to the museums for real and raw histories, as most times the encoded ones have limited facts to sever their purposes.

Mrs. Naambome Yenzie has taken it upon herself to tour various Basic and Senior High Schools to educate pupils and students on the importance of visiting a museum and the benefits attaches to that of using a technological device in the house.

According to her, most parents today preferred spending huge sums of money in purchasing technological device for their children to taking them to a museum to learn real and ‘raw history’ about their past.

She is of the view that such practice by parents does not only cost them financially but also denies their children the opportunity to learn about how their forefathers lived and some of the items they used, which are being kept at the Museums.

“Without a doubt, most youth today if asked to tell a story about their communities or society that youth hails from, it will take him years to do so. That is a sign of infidelity to the youth and the community at large by the parents.”

Mrs. Naambome Yenzie however did not blame the youth, but their parents and called on parents, especially those living in towns and cities to stop spending huge sums of money in buying devices that directly or indirectly influence their children’s behavior and rather resort to the museums.
