Upper West Is No Longer “the Youngest Region in Ghana” – Youth to Rafiq Salam

Joy News Upper West Correspondent, Rafiq Salam

A group of concerned youth in Wa Township by name “With all Due Respect” have come out to plead with the Joynews correspondent in Upper West, Rafiq Salam to edit his portion of Regional address on Joy News where he referred to the region as the Youngest Region in Ghana.
The group suggested there were better ways he could address Upper West to Make it timeless instead of timely.
Throwing more light on the issue they added that the image used to portray upper west to the World was also pathetic signaling a deprived and poor region which was a status the region has bypassed.
They concluded by hailing the Northern Regional Correspondent who said “This is the central point of Northern Ghana” indicating that Northern region was the capital of the North.
This statement suggested to investors that investments or support had better been sent to the central point than the corners which includes the youngest region. Logically no one will want to send huge investments to a young region which lacks population, resources And Cash Capitals.
Upper west was Carved out of Upper Region 35years ago and till now has 7 districts and four Municipalities in it.
16 new regions were carved out of the existing 10 regions after a referendum took place on 27th December 2018.
